The comments like "it's not like a golf cart" are not unfounded; its interior feels surprisingly modern and well-organized compared to its rivals in the price segment. The clear digital instrument cluster and the rotating central infotainment screen offer a quality that exceeds initial expectations, promising a practical experience in daily use.

However, once you venture beyond city limits, Seagull's character changes significantly. Long journeys can turn into an ordeal due to its limited range and Turkey's inadequate charging infrastructure; the constant search for charging stations and the fear of getting stranded overshadow the promise of saving money with an electric vehicle. At highway speeds, the distinct wind noise that fills the cabin and the unsettling feeling in its road holding seriously diminish comfort over long distances. The rear seats are far from offering comfort for two adults on extended trips, and the small boot capacity also falls short of meeting the needs of families or weekend getaways.

The cost advantage is Seagull's strongest suit; however, this benefit is balanced by some additional long-term costs. While the initial price is "super affordable," insurance expenses can turn out higher than expected due to it being a new brand and an electric vehicle. The availability of spare parts and the service network at authorized dealers are not yet fully established, which could lead to frustrating waiting times in case of potential malfunctions. Furthermore, the fact that the vehicle has not yet received a rating from independent safety tests (Euro NCAP or NHTSA) poses a significant question mark for safety-conscious buyers, weakening the overall perception of its reliability.

BYD Seagull offers an attractive option only for buyers who intend to use it as a second car exclusively within the city, have a limited budget, and wish to experience their first electric vehicle. It provides a modern electric driving experience compared to internal combustion rivals like the Hyundai i10 or Kia Picanto, while promising better interior quality than entry-level electric models such as the Dacia Spring. However, for buyers who own only one vehicle, frequently undertake long journeys, expect ample boot space, rear seat comfort, proven safety, and a smooth service network, a more established internal combustion engine car at a similar price, or adding a bit more for a more reliable electric model, would be a much more logical choice. While Seagull increases accessibility, it makes significant compromises in critical metrics like performance, comfort, and long-term reliability.
